POLITYKA

The registration of EU citizens and their family members who are also EU citizens is governed by the Law on the right of EU citizens and their family members to move and reside freely within the Republic.

RIGHT TO RESIDENCE (up to 3 months)

EU citizens and their family members who are also EU citizens and accompany or join a EU citizen have the right of residence for up to three months without any conditions or formalities other than the obligation to hold a valid identity card or passport.

RIGHT TO RESIDENCE (over 3 months)

All EU citizens have the right to reside in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus for more than three months if they have a valid identity card or passport and:

• are employees or persons conducting business activities in the host country; or

• they have sufficient resources for themselves and their family members so as not to become a burden on the social assistance system of the Republic of Cyprus during their stay and they have comprehensive health insurance in Cyprus.

APPLICATION SUBMITTAL (MEU1)

An application for a Registration Certificate shall be submitted by a Union citizen and family members who are also Union citizens within four months of the date of entry into the Republic.

APPLICATION PROCESSING TIME

The application will be considered and the decision will be issued within one month of submitting a complete application together with all required documents.

DURATION OF STAY

Registration certificates have no expiration date.

ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT

Union citizens and their family members have free access to employment, including self-employment or employment.
